Large Country House

This was a magnificent project - one of my favourites! The owners do not want any contact details published here but are quite happy to provide a reference.

4-storey house with 6 bedrooms, a basement, Granny Annex and a self-contained flat above a 3-bay "Barn Style" garage

The Firs

This was a replacement dwelling for a 1950's Bungalow. As the house was outside the village development area there were some substantial planning issues to over-come resulting in a lot of negotiation with the local planners - something I do on a regular basis. One result of these negotiations was the requirement for flint walls & a slate roof - to match many other buildings in the village.

The building has some unusual features including:

  • a Ground Source Heat Pump for all heating & domestic hot water
  • a utility room in the basement with the associated water/plumbing issues.
  • rainwater harvesting
  • under floor heating combined with oak flooring
  • a whole-house ventilation system
